Dan qualified as a solicitor in 1993. After training in the West End and City he specialised in Criminal Litigation and Family Law establishing Hyde’s, a niche firm, in 1997. Dan was the principal partner at Hyde’s for over a decade, handling high profile cases including the largest criminal investigation in Lancashire Constabulary’s history, Bristol’s biggest murder case and the UK´s most sophisticated mobile phone fraud. He is a member of the Very High Cost Case Panel (VHCC) for complex crime and applies a pragmatic, client focused approach to solving client problems in the fields of corporate (fraud & regulatory) and white collar/business crime & commercial fraud.
Dan’s recent cases include HM Revenue and Customs prosecutions, Financial Services Authority investigations, (RCJ) high value civil fraud, complex copyright, trademark, security circumvention action and (Crown Court) price fixing/fraud on NHS Primary Care Trust.
Dan has been interviewed by ITV (London Tonight-Ronnie Biggs release), BBC News 24 (MP’s expenses claims and the law), Sky News (guidelines on assisted suicide) & the BBC News Channel (recent topics include City insider dealing, FSA enforcement policies, jury irregularities and unsafe convictions).
Dan is a regular guest commentator on Radio 5 Live in relation to financial crime such as insider dealing, price fixing cartels and topical legal issues.
His comments and articles on law and legal developments regularly appear in the press (The Independent, Daily Telegraph, Guardian, Times, Financial Times, US Reuters, Bloomberg, City AM) and legal publications (The Lawyer, Butterworths Lexis Nexis, Compliance Monthly and Corporate International).
