Student suing school over fall

Published on 15 Jun 2009 under category: legal

A student is suing a public school after she fell from a window and was left disabled.

Amy St Johnston was 16 when she attended Oundle School's Valentine Ball.

She began drinking alcohol in the afternoon and fell 15 ft from a first floor window, which has left her needing crutches to walk after her spinal cord was damaged.

The 20-year-old is now suing her old school claiming that teachers allowed a "drinking culture" to develop, those involved in professional negligence law may be interested to hear.

Ms St Johnston is suing on the ground that the school allowed the window to open further than building regulations stated.

She is also taking issue with the amount of alcohol teachers at the Peterborough school allowed her to consume.

In other news, last week it was revealed that commercial litigation has been filed against Michael Jackson over a breach of contract issue in relation to his gigs at the O2 Arena.ADNFCR-2391-ID-19218624-ADNFCR
