SFO makes MG Rover decision

Published on 12 Aug 2009 under category: legal

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has revealed that there will not be an investigation into whether fraud crimes were present during the collapse of MG Rover.

This comes after the body had begun looking into the case more than a month ago at the request of Lord Mandelson, the business secretary.

The SFO has made the decision not to launch a criminal investigation after reviewing documents and information from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.

Richard Alderman, director of the SFO, reached this conclusion after reading a report on the matter and taking advice from several experts, although the body stated that it could not go into details regarding why this resolution had been reached.

MG Rover collapsed in 2005, with Lord Mandelson referring the case to the fraud crimes body to investigate whether there were any signs of criminal activity during the firm's demise on July 6th after a four-year inquiry.ADNFCR-2391-ID-19308994-ADNFCR
