SFO launches probe into JJB and Sports Direct International

Two major sportswear companies are involved in an investigation by the Serious Frauds Office (SFO).
Sports Direct International, which is owned by Mike Ashley, and JJB Sports are being looked into after a referral from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
This comes after JJB contacted the OFT regarding a possible cartel.
The sportswear firm raised issues with the body in January regarding suspicions of an agreement which could affect competition in the sector.
A spokesperson for the SFO confirmed that it is investigating the two companies, those working on fraud crimes cases may be interested to hear.
They added that the probe is linked to potential offences under the Fraud Act and Enterprise Act.
Earlier this week, more than 20 arrests were made around the country in related to suspected fraud crimes in the construction industry.
These alleged offences related to attempts to cheat the public revenue and money laundering.
