Published on 13 Jul 2009 under category: legal

A major social networking website is being sued over a data issue.

Power.com, is taking the commercial litigation action against Facebook, with the former claiming that the latter should give control of the information on its website to the individuals who upload it.

Steve Vachani, chief executive officer for Power.com, stated people store their own photos and information on the social networking website, and they should own the data that they input.

Scott Bursor, the company's legal counsel, commented that the case is similar to some he has been involved with against telecoms firms, those working in commercial litigation may be interested to hear.

Power.com is an aggregator of social networking websites and was the subject of a lawsuit filed by Facebook last December in relation to alleged copyright infringement and unlawful competition.

In other news, last week it was revealed that Aberdeen Football Club is suing Marshall Arts Limited over a disagreement regarding the relaying of its Pittodrie pitch after a concert by Sir Elton John.ADNFCR-2391-ID-19261957-ADNFCR
