Parents sue Maclaren
Published on 10 Dec 2009 under category: legal
A pushchair maker is being sued by a group of parents.
The legal action is being taken against Maclaren amid claims that it ignored warnings that one of its products could injure children.
It is thought that 15 UK families have taken legal advice on the issue.
The argument centres on a hinge mechanism featured on one of Maclaren's pushchair buggies.
Parents claim that they warned the firm that the product could be dangerous, citing injuries to children's fingers caused when the buggy was folded up.
However, they say that these warnings were not adequately dealt with.
Liz Harmer, whose daughter was injured in an incident involving the buggy, told the BBC: "I find it very distressing that this is still happening because we alerted Maclaren to this over a year ago now and the fact that they just brushed it aside is very frustrating."
Maclaren recently issued a product recall notice on the buggy in the US.
