Online bank fraud 'has evolved'

Published on 5 Nov 2009 under category: legal

Online banking fraud crimes still exist despite measures to prevent them.

That is the view of Mel Morris, chief executive officer for Prevx, who said that these threats have evolved over time.

He said that banks have taken action to prevent these fraud crimes, noting that some have even handed out devices for customers to authenticate themselves when logging in to deal with these crimes.

Mr Morris added: "The banks have shown that they are highly reactive to the sort of threats that continue to drive online banking forward."

Despite this, he also said that online banking fraud remains despite all of the security innovations that have been implemented to safeguard consumers.

Earlier this week, Prevx launched a new free security programme which is designed to safeguard consumers from online fraud crimes without impacting the user experience.

The anti-fraud facility is now available to banking and e-commerce companies and government bodies.
