Nokia sues Apple over iPhone infringement
Published on 26 Oct 2009 under category: legal
Apple is being sued by a fellow technology giant over its iPhone device.
Nokia is taking legal action against the Steve Jobs-led firm, citing an infringement of patents as the reason for this.
Ilkka Rahnasto, vice-president of legal and intellectual property at Nokia, said the compensation of company's that create new technology in the mobile telecoms sector is a key part of the industry.
He added: "Apple is also expected to follow this principle. By refusing to agree appropriate terms for Nokia's intellectual property, Apple is attempting to get a free ride on the back of Nokia's innovation."
The alleged infringements are thought to relate to wireless local area network and global system for mobile services.
In other corporate legal news, DSB, the Dutch lender, was declared bankrupt in Holland earlier this month after a deadline for it to be taken over by a US firm was missed when a late rescue proposal failed to come off.
