Newcastle United 'could face administration'
Published on 25 Sep 2009 under category: legal
Newcastle United Football Club could be forced into administration by former manager Kevin Keegan's compensation demands, a source has claimed.
The ex-boss is thought to be requesting around £9 million, although the cost of the case could run higher than this, insolvency solicitors may be interested to hear.
Mr Keegan, who is reported to have already turned down a £4 million offer to settle the dispute, is taking this action due to allegations that new players were signed without his knowledge.
However, the club stated that he was aware of this policy and he broke his contract by leaving.
A source told the Sun: "Keegan is crazy. Does he really want to bankrupt Newcastle? It is madness to think he should be paid that much but perhaps he sees this as a last big payday."
In other news, earlier this week it was revealed that former Celtic footballer Bobo Balde has been declared "technically bankrupt" due to a debt of less than £8,000.
