Musician suing Nike
Published on 18 Jun 2009 under category: legal
A major sportswear company is being sued over allegedly using a rock star's trademarked image without permission.
Eddie Van Halen, guitarist in Van Halen, is taking legal action against Nike, those working in commercial litigation may be interested to hear.
The musician claims that the firm used the trademarked red, black and white design that features on his guitar on a pair of Nike trainers.
Nike's Dunk Lows are the shoes in question, with Mr Van Halen commenting in the legal paperwork that this has caused "irreparable harm and damage".
The commercial litigation has been filed in Los Angeles, with the musician reported to be hoping that production on the Nike shoes is ceased.
In related news, last week it was revealed that Michael Jackson is being sued by AllGood Entertainment in relation to the king of pop's live shows at the O2 Arena.
The firm, which is behind a planned reunion of the Jackson Five, is alleging a breach of contract has occurred with the singer agreeing to perform at the London venue.
