MOD pay system 'open to fraud crimes'

Published on 21 Jul 2009 under category: legal

The Ministry of Defence's (MOD's) payroll system could be open to fraud crimes, it has been claimed.

According to a study recently released by the National Audit Office, there may have been errors regarding specialist pay and expenses, adding that money spent on radio equipment could not be accounted for.

Edward Leigh, chairman of the public accounts committee, commented that the payroll system is "open to fraud".

Mr Leigh went on to say that the MOD needs to "up its game", adding that in the current climate it is "unacceptable that its finances and inventory are in such a poor state".

In other news which may interest those dealing with fraud crimes, earlier this week it was revealed that a pop star is among those who have been stung by an £80 million Ponzi scam.

City of London police stated that it believes around 600 people were hit by the fraud crimes scheme.ADNFCR-2391-ID-19274447-ADNFCR
