Microsoft sued over Bing
Published on 22 Dec 2009 under category: legal
Microsoft is being sued over the name of its search engine.
The IT giant is facing litigation after calling its latest online tool Bing.
Bing! Information Design, a small US-based business, is suing Microsoft amid allegations of trademark and unfair competition.
A lawsuit has been filed in a St Louis court, claiming that the company has been damaged since the IT giant began marketing its Bing search engine earlier this year.
The firm stated that it has been using its name since 2000 and applied for the term to be trademarked.
Kevin Kutz, a spokesman for Microsoft, said in a statement: "We believe this suit to be without merit and we do not believe there is any confusion in the marketplace with regard to the complainant's offerings and Microsoft's Bing."
In other technology litigation news, last week Apple launched a lawsuit against Nokia over an alleged patent infringement.
