Malware fraudsters 'more creative'
Published on 5 Nov 2009 under category: legal
It is becoming harder for people to avoid becoming the victim of hackers, according to an expert.
Tom Kelchner, research centre manager at Sunbelt Software, said that it is becoming harder for users to spot malware infections, which could lead consumers open to fraud crimes and identity theft.
He commented: "Malware creators are becoming more creative in the way they produce their malicious code. This is in part to try and beat antivirus and other malware prevention tools."
Mr Kelchner explained that as it is becoming more difficult to detect these infections, the use of anti-malware software is becoming increasingly important.
Earlier this week, the seventh volume of the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report found that rouge security software remained the biggest threat category to its customers in the first half of the year.
The study also revealed that while this is the case, there was a 20 per cent fall in customers being affected by rogue infections in the last six months.
