Major furnisher firm to be wound up

Published on 2 Mar 2010 under category: legal

A furnishing firm that previously counted the Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Airport among its clients has announced plans to call in administrators the same day as it let 48 employees go.

Keith Evans Contract Furnishers' poor cash-flow left it unable to continue, though it had orders for six months time.

Administrator Harris Lipman was called in on February 22nd to handle the company's business assets, after an eight-week period without any substantial orders.

John Cullen, partner at the administrator, told Accountancy Age: "As a result, the directors took the swift decision to take insolvency advice before any significant creditor pressure.

"I am hopeful that we will be able to find a buyer for the business assets over the coming weeks."

The firm, based in Mid Glamorgan, was in business for just over fifty years and has been responsible for the interiors and distinctive looks of several high street names including Wetherspoons, Pizza Hut, KFC, Marriot and Jarvis and Hilton Hotels.
