Lord appears in court on fraud charge

A lord has been charged with fraud crimes.
Edward Davenport, Lord of Giffords, is accused of £12 million advance fee fraud.
He has also appeared in court regarding a £2.4 million price ramp fraud.
Lord Davenport is accused of conspiring to obtain money by deception between May 2005 and December 2009.
Two other men, Peter Reilly and David Horsfall, also appeared in court in relation to fraud charges.
The Lord became a well-known name in the celebrity world after founding the Gatecrasher Balls.
Since then he has hosted parties for stars including Cher, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss at his £30 million West London property.
The charges come after an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office.
In other news, last week the Baroness Scotland's former cleaner was charged with fraud crimes.
Loloahi Tapui is to appear in court in relation to using a false passport, fraud and allegedly overstaying her visa.
