London law firms to innovate on outsourcing?
Published on 13 May 2010 under category: legal
Law firms should 'streamline' their own practices to help create more funding for cases, claims one legal commentator.
The latest consultation from the Law Society has highlighted how there needs to be more funding for the legal aid system for law firms in London and the rest of the UK, as public resources are being reduced.
Richard Susskind, a technology guru, writes in today's (May 13th) Times newspaper that law firms need to cut costs to free up revenues.
He advises law firms that there are several ways to ensure that the legal system remains open to clients with smaller incomes.
Measures he recommends include putting more information online in easily digestible form and increasing the availability of public legal education.
Drawing on alternative legal providers that can optimise sources of state funding was also necessary, in order to provide more 'convenient' avenues of support for clients.
