Livingston to accept insolvency rule punishment

Published on 9 Sep 2009 under category: legal

A football club has accepted its punishment for breaking insolvency rules.

Livingston FC breached these regulations by going into administration.

Because of this, the club was relegated to the Third Division, which represents a demotion of two leagues.

An appeal, which may have included the use of insolvency solicitors, to the Scottish Football Associated failed, with the punishment being upheld.

The club could take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, however, chairman Gordon McDougall revealed that it is unlikely that this action will be taken with it instead set to accept its punishment, insolvency solicitors may be interested to hear.

In other news, last month Lesley Shepherd, manager of corporate communications at the European Regions Airline Association, commented that it is likely that there will be more bankruptcies in the travel industry before the end of the year.

She said that these could occur until the recovery of the sector starts, adding that she did not know when this would be.
