Katona 'remains in bankruptcy'

Published on 27 Aug 2009 under category: legal

Kerry Katona is unlikely to have her bankruptcy status lifted in the near future, a source has claimed.

The Daily Mirror reports that the former Atomic Kitten star had hoped to have this removed, however, the Insolvency Service has won its bid to have her planned discharge "suspended indefinitely", bankruptcy solicitors may be interested to hear.

A spokesperson for the Insolvency Service, although not commenting on Ms Katona's case specifically, told the newspaper: "For a bankrupt to have their discharge suspended, something serious would have had to have been brought to our attention."

The newspaper goes on to suggest that the singer and reality TV star could remain in bankruptcy until next year.

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail reported that former lottery winner Callie Rogers could be facing bankruptcy.

The newspaper revealed that Ms Rogers, who scooped a £1.9 million prize she was 16 years old, is currently working as a cleaner and living with her mother.
