Karaoke company cites major demand for franchising move

Published on 10 Mar 2010 under category: legal

A London-based karaoke bar company has announced plans to launch a major global franchising scheme, citing strong demand from all over the world.

Launched by former dotcom entrepreneur Martha Lane Fox, who founded the Last Minute site, Lucky Voice has already proven a hit across the UK.

In addition to its flagship bars in Islington and Brighton, the company also has a presence in Manchester and Cardiff, where its karaoke booths are located within chain bars.

However, rather than expanding on its own, plans are in place to open the Lucky Voice format to franchisees, with such a policy aimed at driving global expansion over the next few years, the London Evening Standard has reported.

"We are on the cusp of a dramatic expansion," said managing director Nick Thistleton to the newspaper.

"We have had enquiries from all over the world, and there is scope for a lot more deals."

Meanwhile, a new column by Malcolm Porter in the Franchise Magazine has placed investing in a good brand as one of the top eight steps to running a successful franchise.
