Industry calls on government to set out plan on deficit

The UK government needs to create the right conditions for enterprise and industry in order for the budget to get back on track by 2015, an industry body has said.
Delivering its own manifesto today (April 6th), the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) highlighted the government's lack of a roadmap for restoring the country's finances.
It called for reformed business taxes, growth-friendly infrastructure and what it described as a "global voice for UK business".
The future government needs to be more defensive of UK business internationally, according to the report.
In addition, the manifesto drew attention to the need to equip students with more skills, as well as tackle youth unemployment.
"Whichever party wins the election will have a lot on its plate, but the number-one priority must be to set out a clear and credible plan for restoring the public finances and supporting economic growth," commented Richard Lambert, the director-general of the CBI.
