Former royal officer jailed

Published on 31 Jul 2009 under category: legal

A former royal protection officer has been jailed for fraud.

Paul Page was given a six-year sentence at London's Southwark Crown Court.

This relates to the defrauding of 57 people over three years in a property scheme, those working with fraud crimes may be interested to hear.

The court heard that Mr Page conned his victims out of as much as £3 million which involved promises of high returns from real estate, when the money was actually used for spread betting.

Judge Geoffrey Rivlin QC described the fraud crime as "breathtakingly dishonest".

He added: "By countless lies and very cunning manipulation, you managed to create a false world of property development to deceive a large number of innocent victims."

The judge also stated that some of the people who invested in the scam had been left "crippled financially".

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Bernard Madoff has met with the legal representative of his fraud crimes victims.ADNFCR-2391-ID-19291172-ADNFCR
