Former nurse jailed for deception fraud crime

A former nurse has been given a prison sentence for stealing money from a patient with Alzheimer's disease.

Abdool Hamuth received a three-and-a-half-year term after pleaded guilty to obtaining money transfer by deception, those working on cases involving fraud crimes may be interested to hear.

The 65 year old stole £72,000 from Alan Roberts, Southwark Crown Court heard.

This occurred while Mr Roberts was a patient at the nursing home at which Mr Hamuth worked.

Judge Gregory Stone commented: "It was your intention to defraud that person of everything single penny he had and a more despicable and mean crime is difficult to conceive."

It was revealed that Mr Hamuth had used some of the money to pay for his son's wedding.

Earlier this week, former KMPG director Andrew Wetherall was jailed for four years due to fraud crimes which saw him claim more than £500,000 in expenses which were used to maintain his wife's lifestyle.
