A former Nigerian presidential candidate has been arrested as part of a fraud investigation.
Attahiru Bafarawa, who is also the former governor of Sokoto State, was detained in connection with N$6 billion (£24 million).
The arrest took place during a raid of opposition leaders conducted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission earlier this week.
A source told Allafrica.com that Mr Bagarawa could be in hot water during to his employment methods.
They said: "He awarded contracts to his brother in-law to buy medical cooling system, instead what was supplied was fridges."
Mr Bafarawa is reported to have been at the opposition meeting in a bid to form a party to which would stand for election in 2011.
Elsewhere, earlier this week Edward Davenport, Lord of Giffords, was accused of £12 million advance fee fraud.
The Lord appeared in court in relation to the charge and was also accused of a £2.4 million price ramp fraud.
