Dominic Keane on trial for £2.3 million fraud crime

A man has gone on trial for white collar crimes after being accused of committing a £2.3 million fraud, a source reveals.

Dominic Keane, a former director of Celtic FC, has been charged with defrauding the Royal Bank of Scotland of £2,336,039, the Scotsman reports.

This allegedly took place between October 1st 1999 and April 14th in 2001, with the first witness in the trial being called today.

Mr Keane is accused of tricking two men into signing a deal which linked them to debts owed to the bank.

The court was told that one of these men, Willie Haughey, had been invested heavily in Livingston Football Club and experienced a number of fall-outs with Mr Keane, the news provider reports.

In other news, former Credit Suisse broker Eric Butler has been found guilty of fraud crimes after he cost investors $1 billion (£610 million) and now faces a maximum possible sentence of 45 years in jail.
