Commercial litigation cost reforms 'being trialled in Birmingham'

Published on 3 Jun 2009 under category: legal

Cost reforms for commercial cases championed by a senior judge are being trialled in Birmingham, it has been revealed.

Lord Justice Jackson's recommendations, which are designed to make pursuing commercial litigation such as professional negligence claims cheaper and faster, were begun yesterday (June 2nd), the Birmingham Mail reports.

The Birmingham Technology and Construction Court and Mercantile Court will be the site of the trial and it is hoped that these changes will further control costs to ensure these are proportionate.

Martino Giaquinto, who organised the event, told the news provider: "Lord Justice Jackson's preliminary report has been widely welcomed … as it addresses a range of issues relating to the civil litigation system, which ultimately will make it better for those who use it."

In other commercial litigation news, the Metic Group has filed a lawsuit against Northern and Western Insurance over a contract dispute arising from the latter's alleged failure to deliver funds.ADNFCR-2391-ID-19200575-ADNFCR
