A businessman has been jailed after appearing in court in relation to fraud crimes.
David Maskill admitted to stealing a friend's details which he then used to apply for a credit card to help his business, although he also purchased items such as a television with this payment option.
He was given a 12-month sentence after being found guilty of 12 counts of fraud at Leeds Crown Court, which heard that these resulted in the credit card company losing £14,833.
Jon Gregg, who represented Mr Maskill, commented that the fraud crimes came after visits from creditors and debt collectors.
He added: "In a desperate effort to keep his business afloat he committed this breach of trust on his erstwhile friend."
Recently, a worker at King's Cross station was given a ten-week prison sentenced suspended for a year after being found guilty of fraud crimes relating to him obtaining cheap rail travel.
