Bobo Balde declared 'technically bankrupt'

Published on 22 Sep 2009 under category: legal

A former Celtic footballer has been declared bankrupt.

Bobo Balde, who joined the Scottish giants in 2001 and left earlier this year, has been made technically bankrupt due to a debt of £7,904.

It is suggested that this figure relates to legal fees, bankruptcy solicitors may be interested to hear.

Bryan Jackson, a court-appointed accountant, explained that the French footballer may not have purposefully avoided paying this debt.

He said: "Non-payment and failure to defend the action may be due to a misunderstanding or because Mr Balde is unaware of the debt."

Mr Jackson added that he will be pursuing the case to determine the exact situation with regards to whether Mr Balde does require the use of bankruptcy solicitors.

Earlier this month, Dutch brokerage Van der Moolen Holding filed for bankruptcy in the Netherlands.

It was revealed that firm had been unable to meet its financial commitments, which included paying its staff.
