Bankrupt Read to sell records next week
Published on 27 Nov 2009 under category: legal
Former Radio 1 DJ Mike Read is having to sell his music collection after being declared bankrupt.
Around 120,000 vinyl albums and singles are set to go up for auction next week.
It is thought that the collection could fetch as much as £1 million.
The 62-year-old, who worked for Radio 1 between 1978 and 1991, was declared bankrupt earlier this year.
It was the second time that the former Top of the Pops presenter had been declared bankrupt.
When news first broke that the star may have to sell his record collection, auction valuation agent High Thompson described the haul as "easily the most exciting to come on the market in years".
The sale is set to take place on Monday (November 30th) in west London.
Read is though to be so upset at having to sell the records that he is refusing to help identify them, the Sun reported.
