TV star Neil Morrissey has debts of £2.5 million, according to a national newspaper.
The News of the World reports that the Waterloo Road actor has racked up losses after a real estate investment collapsed.
However, he is refusing to contact bankruptcy solicitors, saying instead he will pay his creditors in full.
He told the newspaper: "No one is untouchable. This can happen to anyone. You can be doing very well one day, and on the streets the next. These things creep up on you. All of a sudden it manifests itself."
Mr Morrissey added that the economic downturn has not helped, stating that the attitude of some banks has also been a problem, bankruptcy solicitors may be interested to hear.
Recently, TV chef Gordon Ramsay told Fox News that he has faced bankruptcy during the credit crunch, describing it as his "personal nightmare".
