A family has been given a lump sum of £2million and additional life-long payments worth the same for their brain-damaged daughter, after they made a claim for medical negligence.
Holly Nixon, six, was born brain-damaged following mistakes made during her birth at Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust.
According to her mother, she stopped moving in the womb but nothing was done to intervene.
A crucial decision do a Caesarian was delayed, which resulted in a harrowing birth.
During the actual birth itself, she was starved of oxygen.
Holly now requires round-the-clock care for her quadriplegia and cerebral palsy.
This case and high settlement could open up more claims for medical negligence.
Commenting on the case, the hospital's QC Paul Rees told Worcester News: "It is also right for us to mark as a public tribute how much the claimant’[curly]s family have done and how much they have devoted themselves to her needs."
