Flexible working could prevent wrongful dismissals?

Published on 27 Jul 2010 under category: legal

UK employers could boost their businesses by encouraging flexible working practices, according to industry experts.
Workers who feel they are not given enough flexibility could enter into employment disputes.
A report from Hays has found that more than half of employers in the private sector are unwilling to offer more flexible terms for their staff.
Commenting on the findings of the report, the Work Foundation's associate director Steve Overell said: "Employers have changed quite quickly over the last few years and flexible is really not that old."
"It is true that there is an awfully long way to go and I think in the future we will see much more adoption of flexible working and many more different forms of flexible working.
"So it is no surprise that people want more of it."
Bosses that fail to give staff more flexibility could find that workers are more stressed and prone to grievances in the workplace.
