Employment disputes to rise with employee dissatisfaction?

Published on 9 Aug 2010 under category: legal

Employees are experiencing falling levels of satisfaction in the workplace since the recession, according to a new report.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) found in its latest survey that just over a third (35 per cent) of people in the workplace are happy with their current job.
This is a one per cent decrease on the last quarter and a sharp fall on the same quarter last year.
Commenting on the figures, head of public affairs at the Chartered Management Institute Mike Petrook said: "I think that the main issue is that people are struggling because they are overworked. With all the redundancies that have happened, people have not been replaced – and those who have been left behind have low morale.
"This is because they have more to do, and more pressure to deliver with fewer resources."
Private sector employees are the least satisfied, with only a third saying that they are happy with their position.
High levels of dissatisfaction in the workplace could lead to more employment disputes.
