Commercial disputes could halt 'economic recovery'?

Published on 9 Aug 2010 under category: legal

Commercial disputes could prevent small businesses playing their part in the recovery of the UK economy.
The British Chambers of Commerce found in its latest monthly business survey that more than two-thirds (67 per cent) of small businesses believe that the emergency Budget will affect their revenues.
Struggling businesses could find that they are further impacted by public sector spending cuts, which will in turn affect consumer spending.
Emyr Williams, of Bytestart.co.uk, commented that the government needs to take account of how important small businesses are to economic recovery.
He said: "Small businesses are hugely important in driving the UK economy. They are the most important employer in the UK and are major contributors to the Treasury in the form of tax.
"As the bloated public sector is shrunk it's vital that small businesses are there to provide employment and stoke the engine of the economic recovery."
Commercial disputes and litigation from insolvency and pay issues could leave many businesses unable to function in this economic climate.
