Artists & Performer's Rights

Performers have rights in their Performances – this covers actors, dancers, mime artists, singers, musicians and comedians as well as those giving readings and recitations.

A performer has the right to give or refuse his or her consent to the recording of a performance (known as the non-property right).

If a recording is made the performer has the right to control the uses made of the recording – in a similar way to copyright – this covers, the reproduction, distribution, rental and lending and making available of the work on the internet (known as the property rights).
